Comments
Comments: Was surprised that we didn't see any other hikers on the trail all day (some might have gone by while we we were at the summit lodge). The trail is well packed from the parking lot up to the lookout and then on to the base of the summit cone. There it becomes a mess of ski trails - instead of wasting time trying to meander up to the "loop trail" we just jumped out onto the ski trail right at the summit lodge. Great views form the tower - pretty sure we could see Mansfield and Camels Hump in VT. The hike down was pretty quick - mixed in some sledding. The spots where the hiking trail crosses the ski trails were a bit hard-packed. Find it interesting that Cannon won't let hikers on their ski trails but will cut down trees along the hiking trail so the skiers can use the hiking trail. Saw seven skiers - all were considerate of us hikers.
