| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Parked in the upper lot about 3 cars from the TH end. But that was at 3:30, people were leaving the slopes. Get there early, or real late, it fills up! |
|
| Surface Conditions: |
Snow - Packed Powder/Loose Granular, Snow - Wet/Sticky |
|
| Recommended Equipment: |
Snowshoes, Light Traction |
|
| Water Crossing Notes: |
The two right at the trailhead were open, but water is low. The first is an easy rock hop, the other a simple step over. The upper 2 crossings were bridged. A couple open seeps just above the upper crossing. |
|
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
In good shape. A couple large duck unders up high, but they are limbed and pose no trouble. |
|
| Dog-Related Notes: |
Should be a good dog trek right now. |

Got the afternoon off at work so drove North and hit this on the way. Left the car at 3:30, back at 6:15 thanks to a real fast descent. Missed sunset show by 15 or so minutes on the ridge :(
1" soft snow (it was in low 40s at the TH) on top of good hard pack. Bare booted all the way up with never leaving more than a 1" print in the soft snow. Light traction or snowshoes would have been nice in a few of the harder packed areas in the steeps but it was doable. Looks like a lot of butt sledding and even some snowboarding has been done down the upper half of the trail. Snowshoed all the way down for the traction, which was a perfect choice. No snow balling :D
Nice quick hit, would have loved I have taken my time but I started late so was trying not to headlamp the whole thing (turned it on right about at the ski slope view point on descent). Only saw one person, coming down just above the lower crossing as I ascended. |
