Comments
Comments: mixed bag of conditions as is the season. pretty packed trail to mcgrillis path..got a bit softer above.. a couple of inches of alternating fluff and sleety type snow to the top of the cut off. Snow depths increased quite a bit and the snow turned much more powdery to the ledges. good footing on them today..televators helped for sure. very windy on upper ledges. we had followed solo hiker out for a walk up to south peak where she turned around. snow depths across the rollins 4-8 inches with blow in track we stayed on course most of the way til we hit the big blowdown section. we wiggled to the left (north) to avoid a steep stretch through blowdown patch past the crawl through spot..should have gone right (south) as we ended up on the wrong side of a small hump. contoured our way through occaissional deep snow and a few sprucey spots and got back on trail. from pass to white face..do not follow our tracks where we dive off trail...you may die laughing...lol! !keep on the trench which was pretty evident on that side of blowdowns.
easy going over to Dicey with alternating depths and consistency of snow. Ascent to the cone tracked out with 4-8 inches of new...real fine snowshoe skiing back to Rollins. Views from the summit were very excellent today..clear under a high overcast. Descent on Dicey is where we ran into the most snow with a filled in track and pretty solid 12 inch loose snow down to around 2500 feet where the surface changed dramatically. We kept snowshoes on back to the road..section from wiggens down pretty solid but didnt feel like carrying them.. Excellent day out with Valerie

no signs of traffic headed for sleepers...someone had taken the east loop towards walden but their track did not summit from that side
