Comments
Comments: Somewhat to our surprise the Tripyramids have received alot of snow since last weekend. Down low very dense and wet and we were trailbreaking immediately. As we got to the sharp left turn the snow was somewhat drier but still very dense and very deep. Often broke in to our knees on the steeps. John, Bill, Steve and Ramona did more than their fareshare of trail breaking today...thanks very much. Took us almost 6.5 hours to reach Middle. Had some very enjoyable sliding on the way back. This trail is now well packed but without snowshoes postholing is likely to occur. Did not see anything but the inside of fog on the summits. Limited views from the glade areas lower down. We lost all evidence of the exact location of the trail after the sharp left turn so we took a few interesting routes through the trees. No evidence of recent activity on any of the other routes up the Tripyramids. We did stop to check out the Hancock Notch Trail for a Sunday hike. It appeared that one person tracked it out but for how far....we dont know. Thanks to John, Steve, Bill, Ramona, Karen and Raoul for a great day. I am sure we all put a star next to these peaks today!
