Comments
Comments: Early afternoon start; met two groups of three on their way down, one younger group in crampons, then older group on showshoes who informed me that the younger group had bivied in the refuge cellar at Lakes hut the night before. Crawford Path nicely packed out to Pierce, but unpacked with deep drifts between Pierce and Ike Loop, but for the extreme postholes, with frontpoint crampon indentations still showing. Ike Loop unpacked and difficult to follow in full white out conditions; used compass, map, and bracketing to find summit cairn on Ike. Tagged Pierce on the way down, just before darkness set in.
