Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: 3rd crossing on Little River on North Twin Snow-bridged, on Gale river the 1st crossing was bridged on way out, but soft, nearest crossing to trail-head was finely snow-bridged
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Frost tr. may need some brushing come spring, maybe the snow depth and snow on the trees makes it feel that way. One walk around blow down on upper portion of North Twin Trail. A few step overs on lower portion of Gale River Trail. Pretty decent run for winter I think though.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Thor was the only dog we saw out today on these trails and he did fine. There plenty of places he could get a drink if he wanted to and the trail conditions and weather were fine for him.

Comments
Comments: The storm coming in made the comfort levels a little less than ideal but quite doable. Snow accumulated throughout the day and winds picked up on the summits a bit and visibility was fairly poor. Temps were decent though and spirits were high which always makes for a great hike. The trails were soft even for snowshoes coming in from the North Twin side and drifted on the ridge. 5-6 inches fresh snow on the Garfield Ridge and Gale River Trail made for a comfortable hike down on the cushiony surface. Lower portion of Gale river tr. was a fairly solid surface. Another awesome adventure with Dave Bear and his dog Thor. NH winter 48 #'s, 14, 15, 16 for me while Thor needed the Twins for his summits. Dave did not need any of these but sure made for great company! My longest winter adventure yet!
