The road had ski traffic before us but with 4 or 5 inches of new snow, it wasn't consolidated. Sometimes we shared a tracked and sometime the snowshoers had our own. It was a broken but loose track up to the switchbacks where we took over breaking trail. Even though Mark and Val were there the day before, we saw no evidence of their tracks. It was light fluffy powder to the summit. Above treeline the powder hid some rocks and we had a few ankle twisters. Visibility wasn't great but the winds were 5-7 MPH at the most. On the return we followed a boarder and a skier and they packed the trail down nicely. Thanks Ali and Tracey for a great day of hiking. |
