A good day out with Trailwrecker, who decided to give up barebooting for lent. Wish I could say that for the rest of the crew out there today. NEBA was out in full force and wasn't so much of an issue down low where the snow was wet and sticky but higher up on Mt Kinsman Trail and Kinsman Ridge Trail barebooters were postholing everywhere as the snow was soft and unconsolidated.
Big props to the large group out today for having no trail ethic. As we stepped off the trail to put on snowshoes the group decided to stop as well, except they stopped on the trail right next to us. As I bent over to put on my snowshoes it was nice to have a womans behind right in my face. The group could have moved 10 feet further up the trail as to not be in our business. Also they had trouble stepping off trail to let us pass as they delayered or snacked. THANKS!
Winds were a stiff 20mph at the summit of South with windchills hovering around zero. Hopefully the new snow we get will cover up thos postholes. |
