Comments
Comments: Gem of a day to be in the Presis today. 20 degrees with very light to no wind. Bright sun, beautiful undercast. The Ammo and Jewell(once in the trees) were in great shape, packed powder with perhaps an inch of new snow. Not completely consolidated but getting better. The ridge was a mixed bag of ice, hardpack, soft snow, exposed rock. Very difficult to know what to wear at any given time. We snowshoed car to car but that wasn't always a picnic-rocks were troublesome but shoes helped to smooth out snowier areas that were postholed in places or generally rough from barebooters. Many barebooted the whole way, some had crampons. Very busy day today-trails were full of very happy hikers. Great to see Per and Georg with Cinilla, John and Pepper, Hiker Ed, Tim and Tim, and finally meet Silverfox and Val and many others....
