| Comments: |
I wore snowshoes all day, but Lonesome Lake Trail to Hi-Cannon was easily bare-booted although I would recommend light-traction for efficiency. Higher up snow is lighter and deeper, recommend showshoes. Ladder is covered with icy frozen granular, MSRs bit into this surface well. Kinsman Ridge Trail (Rim Trail) now well broken out by two snowshoers following me. As always watch out for rogue skiers/boarders. Near end crossed off KRT and Kinsman Glade ski trail and into the drainage to photograph frozen waterfall, if you follow my tracks they'll come out on the south side of the tram terminal, not the trailhead. When I left there were no tracks connecting the hiker parking lot to the true trailhead. Bike Path walk back to Lafayette Campground is for bareboots as the pavement shows in spots, and is thinly covered at best. Watch out for snowmobile traffic. |
