Comments: Bone Chill was the order of the day. The wind was almost always with us --- if not blowing on us -- it was the noise over our heads. For the most part the trail was well packed however there was significant thick drifting in many places. We followed a single hiker in crampons thought we never saw him/her. There was some postholing in the deep drifts which we generally packed down with snowshoes.

My thermomenter read minus 12 at the Franconia Ridge trail intersection where we really buttoned up. Extra jackets, goggles, facemasks. I tried a new small facemask that covered parts of my checks and nose so I did not fog my glasses. Made by Kevin Bourque. He will send you one for $22.50. Goggle his website "Outeru". We were only able to stay on the summit of Liberty for a couple minutes. Click some pics and skedaddle. On the south side of Liberty the wind was less and we were able to eat and drink and proceed to Flume. Bill pulled out his wind gage on Flume and measured 67mph. Again could stay only long enough for pictures and it was a chore to not get blown around. By this time all the clouds had lifted. Presidentials, Bonds, Twins, Franconia Range spectacular. Lots of snow on the Waumbeck range in the distance. Congrats to Karen for 42 W4K. It appeared the single hiker may have come out on the Flume Slide Trail which looked like it had a single track in the afternoon. No recent activity heading north on Franconia Ridge Trail. Thanks to BillC and Karen for a terrific day.
