B and I broke this trail out yesterday. It appeared that no one had been on this trail since last week's major storm. Snow was slightly crusty and we re-broke the trail for the first few miles before a second party caught up with us. The four of us took turns breaking trail and leap frogged at elevation to reduce fatigue. There were at least a dozen people who were on the trail yesterday so it is now nicely packed BUT not bare bootable. Please wear snowshoes to preserve this loosely packed powder base.
Enjoy :)
The steep pitches were snow-covered but the loose fluffier powder at elevation made it more difficult to get a good purchase with snowshoes alone. |
