Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: All major crossings snowbridged but appeared to be weakening. Some side drainages open.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: 2 walkaround blowdowns in the flats, nearing the first main crossing two more, one being a walkaround to a knee under to a puddle avoider, two more near the second crossing, the second a knee under up a ways from it. Some other minor blowdowns or lean intos and some slushiness in the flats. No snow today. Trail should be in great shape tomorrow.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: The mighty tough little dog found things pretty nice until the bushwack looking for the Frost trail. He then developed snowballs on all his legs, he fell into a spruce trap twice his height and more, but kept on going. His heart is way bigger than my head. But after performing a resection of snowballs on the hut seats, he had a ball on the downhill.

Comments
Comments: The trail had surprisingly little new snow even up by the hut. The flats were wet compacted snow but above them it was great snowshoeing. Easy hike to the hut and great boogie down from it until the flats. But I could not find the Frost trail. I spent over an hour trying out different potential routes, and even trying to go out a ways and then go at 90 degree angle to find the trail. No luck. Nothing visible on the ground, no blazes seen, no trimmed branches found. So I thought I'd bushwack up and perhaps find the trail at some point or at least coming down. In the open area that was easy for me except for one very deep spruce trap I fell into but in the spruce-fir it was slow. The little dog built up some big snowballs and was turning white all over so when I hit a slope he couldn't get up, I ended it. There were a couple of big drifts at the edge of the hut clearing but they weren't the problem. In any case, don't follow any of my routes; they look like a drunken penguin made them. I hope the little guy doesn't fire me.
