Most importantly: DO NOT FOLLOW MY TRACKS! I missed the trail re-route and followed the old trail with the 2 water crossings (that were easily crossed with ice bridge). It was after the second crossing that I could not find the trail - washed out by Irene? Not sure. I attempted to hike along the river edge but the snow was so deep that I could not easily determine a rock hopping route, broke through ice so turned around. The snow was light and deep so even with snowshoes I was sinking to approx. 12 inches in places. |
