My first time up the lower end of Crawford Path. It was so well packed out I thought maybe I had stumbled into a Disney set for "Winter in the Whites". Across ridge it was mostly packed out with anywhere from little to very deep drifting. Several sections are bare rock/gravel/ice and might have been better in spikes, but they were short and I just shoed over them. Entire summit past last switchback is bare. Lots of wind on summit. 40-50mph? Some sections already drifted over on return.
Trail all the way over to Jackson had only had one other person. I SO appreciate their efforts in breaking this out. It was still challenging with an additional 3-4" of new snow. It is now broken the whole way, but still needs to get packed out.
Webster-Jackson was in pretty good shape and is now packed. Easy cruise down and stayed in snowshoes on 2-3" at side of 302. The trails are so much more comfortable with the new snow- thanks Mother Nature! Now if they just don't get postholed..... |
