Dog-Related Notes: Excellent trail for dogs and a good day for Cinnilla. High winds and blizzard conditions made the traverse from the lookout junction to the summit quite challenging but Cinnilla was up for it.

Comments
Comments: After a week-end of skiing and no hiking Georg and I decided to attempt this short hike in the morning and hoping to get well down before the wintry-mix conditions could really be a problem.
Trail conditions are excellent (thanks to Silverfox et al. for packing it down yesterday), no postholing, perfect for snowshoeing although a few rocks are protruding at lower elevation and on the open section leading up to the rim trail. We uses snowshoes car-to-car.
Our biggest challenge today was high winds (~45 MPH was forecast and it felt like that was what we were getting) plus snow across the open section. It was rough but it is a short section and visibility was reasonable.
