The connecting hill to the trailhead from the parking is not broken out. We decided to use the road and walk down to the trailhead. The trail was broken out to Cedar Brook. There were 4 of us to break trail to the col of south peak. As we were ascending, 5 more people came up behind us and helped break out the trail to South Hancock. We ate lunch and rested. The snow was fluffy powder, so ascending was difficult on the steepest parts. We left to break out trail to north peak, but once we got about 1/10 of a mile, the drifts were thigh and hip deep. The snow was not fluffy, but heavy and crusty. We decided to call it a day. Trails are nicely broken out to South Peak. |
