Comments
Comments: Pemi trail good footing in bare boots. Switched to microspikes on Liberty Spring until part way up the slide on Flume. Crampons and ice axe on upper slide. couple inches of light powder on all trails. Trails along ridge in great shape. Some postholing if you get off track. Several sections with drifting that could have been improved had I packed my snowshoes. Did entire ridge and back out to car in microspikes. Descent from Lafayette was challenging with a mix of deep drifting, ice, and bare rock. Old Bridle was in pretty great shape other than occasional 'surprise' ice that caught me snoozing. Hillsounds probably would have been safer than my microspikes. Amazingly calm along the ridge despite forecasts. Crisp clear sunny day!! Great to run into Lady Di and (?).
