| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Signage okay. Some blowdowns here and there - sone old, some new. Most notable blowdowns were on the Rollins Trail roughly .5 miles east of the Whiteface summit - including two crawl-under and one crawl-over (at current, low, snow levels); trail is a bit obscure in this area.(Thank-you to whoever trimmed these a bit - it helps.) Also, Rollins Trail could use some brushing here and there. |

Microspikes useful throughout. A little new snow this A.M., over old hard snow and ice - new snow hid some of the icy patches. Dicey's was straightforward. Rollins had about 3 areas that were especially icy, requiring extra caution with microspikes - but though I carried full crampons, they weren't necessary in these spots. Much more flurrying and drifting on the ridge will make snowshoes helpful. I did a very short bushwhack to avoid the narrow part of the Rollins Trail that runs along the brink of the Bowl. |
