Head up Wildcat Ridge trail from Pinkham via Lost Pond. Form Lost Pond to the top of the ski lift the trail had not been used in sometime. There was up to 6 inches of snow on top of very hard pack. Crampons were needed and it was very slow going. From the ski lift to the hut and back down Nineteen Mile it was very packed out. Stayed at Carter where it was -21 below at night and the next morning when I went down. I think Chad, the hut manager was happy to see me come thru the door so he could light a fire. Great first winter trip. |
