Comments
Comments: blueberry ledge trail was well packed, but choppy from bareboots. snow cover a little thin down low and pretty rocky near the lower ledges. the upper ledges had little ice, but some exposed rock especially on the first scramble. otherwise good grippy snow cover. rollins packed, but choppy with one major section of blowdown that is a nuisance, but could also make route finding more difficult after a big dump of snow. diceys mill again was solid, but chewed up with some hard crust and ice just below the summit. trail got nicer on the descent as the snow softened a bit and a good part of the lower section below the brook crossing was blown in with soft powder. i wore snowshoes the whole hike. carried crampons and would suggest doing the same in case conditions change on the ledges.
a beautiful day. the sun and views on the ledges of whiteface were fantastic. cold temps and some wind along rollins and on passaconaway, but otherwise much more comfortable than i was expecting. great to be out.
