| Water Crossing Notes: |
The crossing of the Wonalancet River was open. Water at normal depths. People with spikes on were using the birch tree. Snowshowers were rockhoping which was possible without getting the shoes to wet. Dogs would have gotten wet feet. |

| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
A few blowdowns but none were a problem |

| Dog-Related Notes: |
Saw no dogs today but the snow is pretty good for dogs. The upper brook above the Rollins intersection is open |

Got a late start so decided to bypass Whiteface. There were snowshoes tracks headed up Blueberry ledge and another hiker told me the ledges are not a problem with just a few ice sections. Rollins seemed well packed at the intersection with Dicey's. Two bare booters were ahead of me and partially broke out the 4-5 inches of fresh snow up Dicey's. Up to the river crossing even with the new snow the trail was boney. Above the river there is more snow meaning there were some Ankle Wrenching Postholes (AWPHs)that made the side wall sections of Dicey's a little slow. Other snowshoers followed me so the trail is well packed and AWPHs mostly filled in. I took the left loop to the summit which was unbroken and drifted, but now well packed. The last pitch before the view was wind blown and icey. I had expected far more clouds and limited views but the clouds were high and snow held off making for a nice summit though it was breezy. |
