Comments
Comments: We arrived early to find only a single track of a barebooter going through the 4 inches of fresh snow. He headed up North Hancock and we decided to head up South. As we got closer to the summit snow depths were around 6 inches with some deeper drifts along the ridge. Lots of hidden postholes along the ridge so care should be taken. Along the ridge we passed three guys all drinking tallboy PBRs. I guess they were hydrating. Coming down from North we determined it was safer to butt-slide due to the numerous postholes. It wouldn't be hard to blow out a knee with one misplaced step. As we headed down there were numerous groups heading up. It was a mix of snowshoes, micros, and crampons. Crampons were overkill for today and with the new snow on trial snowshoes were the way to go. The trail was nice and consolidated on the way out and all the snowshoers today helped pack the trail down for those barebooters.

Overall it was a good day out with Summerset. Clouds were high enough to allow us to view across the Kanc and to Chocorua. With Slowshoes at home we were able to tear up the trail and get out of there at a decent time.
