Comments
Comments: All snow readily supported crampons without punching through. Some post holes from the previous warm days but not enough to cause a problem w/o snowshoes. We dropped the snowshoes at the hut and didn't miss them at all. Full crampons absolutely necessary on much of the ice draped Fishin' Jimmy ledges and some areas of the Kinsman Ridge up to N. Kinsman. I wore crampons the entire way, Bob used Microspikes on parts of the return on KR and then from the hut down. We didn't carry ice axes, but I did have Whippet and it came in useful on some of the ledges for pull-up aid and as a hand-rail.
