| Comments: |
The snowshoe track was well established on Pine Bend Brook Trail. The snow was sticky with a softening of the pack which resulted in occasional postholing even with snowshoes. The soft snow surface caused a slight bit of backsliding on ascent and some downhill slippage on descent as traction had no firm substrate to grab. The ridge walk between the two peaks was easy with generally no tendency to posthole.
Great views from both peaks including the fog banks abutting the mountain areas to the south and east. The White Mountain region was clear of the low clouds.
Met no other hikers today. |
