Temps averaged 45 on the ridge. Higher down low. Windy? Yep! 30mph+ above tree line. We would have to stop moving occasionaly and wait for the gusts to subside. Saw a dozen+ hikers on the ridge today. Maybe half of them with light clothing, no packs, no poles, no traction. No minds? We wore spikes up to the ridge and across to FWT with no problems. Switched to snowshoes once into the trees on the FWT. Earlier bare booters have made a mess of the upper FWT. Incredible to have running water on the ridge trail mid January. Views from Maine to Vermont with some blue sky and incredible undercast. |
