opted not to do the Blueberry Ledges today so made the longer out and back via Rollins..Dicey Mills well packed and I used spikes to just below the cone where I put on mini cramps which I used up and back down to Rollins Jct where I used snowshoes back and forth from Whiteface. Passaconaway well packed and traction helped for sure..one small section of drifts just before the final scramble..Rollins trail heavily drifted in spots with much posthole damage..I did what i could wih the snowshoes..a couple of icy spots required some care..Used spikes for descent on Dicy and they made for smooth sailing..Ran into Brian and Mike on summit and chatted over views and hiked down with Waumbek who was only doing Passaconaway today..I was surprised at how much loose snow and drifting there was along the ridge which made for very good snowshoeing..Nice views from Passaconaway and into the bowl..You could hear the wind roaring and there was a gust now and then but this route well sheltered..Looked like a different story up north though where everything was socked in |
