Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Snow - Packed Powder/Loose Granular, Snow - Drifts, Snow/Ice - Frozen Granular
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment: Snowshoes, Light Traction
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Many of the small streams down low are open but no issues crossing. The largest crossing with no bridge has a stable snow bridge, so no issues there
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: A few duck-unders on 19 Mile Brook, a bunch more headed up to the ridge (but many have been removed since Sandy), some will be much more annoying with a few more feet of snow. One large blowdown patch remains not far below the summit but there is a well established herd path around it. A handful of lean-overs and duck-unders on the ridge, but overall less brushy than I remember it being in the past.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Hannah had a great day - no issues with the steep terrain and warm temps. Not much running water above the junction of 19 Mile Brook and Carter Dome Trail.

Comments
Comments: Great day for an out and back hike - started in micros which worked well on the hard packed snow. Switched to snowshoes at the junction with WRT - we could have switched to them about a half mile sooner because the snow wasn't quite as packed, but micros did just fine. Wore snowshoes for the rest of the hike - definitely helpful on the ridge with some areas with drifting up to a foot or snow, but the trail was easy to follow. Plenty of sun and some gusts on the ridge but not too bad. Took advantage of some awesome butt sliding coming down from "A" peak to the notch. A warm day with fine views of the Presi's and beyond. Surprisingly saw only two people all, both within a mile of the end of the hike. Thanks to Tim and Hannah for a great day.
