Water Crossing Notes: Water levels low, rock hopping was easy.

Trail Maintenance Notes: No blowdowns. Snowshoers are making bootleg paths that zigzag around the steepest rocky bits on moderate terrain. In summer the actual trail may need better definition and marking.

Comments
Comments: With but 1' - 18" of snowfall thus far, there was just snow enough to cover the many places where ice flows made travel hazardous for uncramponed hikers. We wore Hillsound trail crampons and they gave us traction enough for the conditions. Microspikes would slide a bit on the ice, IMO. The ice is very hard and smooth on the rocks. At the summit ledges the ice is formed in tiny waves, so the wind must have blown hard while it was forming.
