Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Snow - Packed Powder/Loose Granular
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment: Snowshoes, Light Traction
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Only one of significance (2.3 miles up the Dicey's Mill trail). It is mostly frozen now but the ice cannot be trusted. Crossing is fairly easy, though.

Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Cinnilla climbed the ledges on the Blueberry Ledge trail with ease. Icy sections are snow-covered and the general snow-coverage helps on the steeper sections. Should be okay for most dogs right now.

Just a dusting of fresh snow on the trails today.

Georg and I barebooted up the Blueberry Ledge trail to the Tom Wiggin junction (some may prefer light traction). This section is firm and smooth.

Then we changed to snowshoes and kept them on for the rest of the hike. They are effective over the ledges although microspikes or hillsounds would be okay as well.

The Rollins trail is somewhat chopped up by postholing barebooters. We smoothed it out as much as we could but it could do with a few more rounds of snowshoe travel. The well-reported blowdown section is fairly easy to deal with and it does not take more than about 10-15 minutes to get through it.

Most of the Dicey's Mill trail is nice and firm (clearly the snowshoers got it well-packed down before the barebooters showed up). The lower third is barebootable but the rest is better traveled with snowshoes - including a long section which has some drifting.

Followed fresh coyote tracks down the Dicey's Mill trail from the Rollins junction for at least a mile.
