| Comments: |
Route was finally broken out all the way to Isolation yesterday after attempts by several groups. John B. and I returned today to summit after being part of an effort that ended at the Davis Path on Tuesday (an earlier post).
Trail is in great shape all the way for snowshoes, but snow bridges over many of the thirty or more drainages will not support spikes. Rocky Branch to the BW still drifting slightly. The Engine Hill bushwack is higher than some might consider optimal, but well broken out and clean through vegetation. Trail is pretty well consolidated and obvious from the end of the BW to the Davis Path with the exception of one hard right hand turn somewhat concealed by spruce. You will see a clearing with a circle of prints around it, look for the right hand turn there. Fifty feet onto the Davis path go under the blowdowns or walk a circle around to the right. There may be another blowdown or two, but most of the remainder of the way is blocked by nothing more than spruce hanging into the trail and easily pushed aside. |
