Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Winter Parking lot was unplowed and exiting this afternoon was interesting with the slushy snow and pulling out onto Route 2. People are still parking in front of the houses on the road to the summer trailhead parking lot. Be respectful to the property owners and park at the winter lot. The winter parking lot is signed "TRAIL PARKING"

Comments
Comments: Finally caught up to old Slowshoes and we had a good day out. The trail was in decent shape with postholes from barebooters who headed up yesterday. There was about 2-3 inches of new snow that made it difficult to see the postholes. Trail between Starr King and Waumbek had some decent drifts obscuring the trail but still easy to follow.

The view from the blowdown area was good and Madison and Adams made an appearance while we were up there. It was nice to put on the snowshoes and do a real winter hike. We ran into one guy on our way down who was doing his part wearing his snowshoes. The other three people we ran into were barebooting. One was carrying his snowshoes on his back(why???) and two others had nothing. The late start for those three might prevent them from doing any real damage to the trail higher up. Smokey Bear says:Don't be a bearbooter!!
