Our original plan was to do Tom/Field/Willey, but slow driving up route 16 forced us to change plans to Jackson. Trail was nicely packed with an inch or two of fresh powder. Summit area was extremely windy and cold. We put on face masks, tagged the summit and quickly dropped down below tree line. Wind was not quite strong enough to knock us around, but very close. We used snowshoes from start to finish, but light traction would have worked fine, too. Summit ledges were all covered with packed snow. |
