Date of Hike

Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Mt. Kinsman Trail lot off 116 not plowed, I'm not sure it even gets plowed in the winter. Probably 8 inches in the lot, doable for 4WD and AWD vehicles, not as good for 2WD. Some shoveling and pushing got the 2WD's into position.

Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment: Snowshoes
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: All snow/ice bridged at this time.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: A couple big widowmakers hanging above the Mt. Kinsman Trail, which will likely become duck-unders as snow depth increases. John and I ran into one blowdown on the Kinsman Flume Spur.

Comments
Comments: Great day to hike the Kinsmans, since South Kinsman eluded me when I first hiked to North Kinsman in January 2011.

Mt. Kinsman Trail broken up to about 3600 feet, then unbroken the ~0.5 miles to Kinsman Ridge Trail. Kinsman Ridge broken to North Kinsman, then a single set of snowshoe tracks led over to South Kinsman. These tracks stopped at the false summit, we then broke out the trail to the true summit. Poor peakbagger missed the true summit! All trails well broken out by our group and the 15 or so others we saw on Kinsman Ridge Trail. High clouds all day, with good views until we were leaving South Kinsman, then it started to snow, and the views disappeared. Light snow all the way down, with about an inch having accumulated on the cars. Thanks to Holly, John, Jocelyn, Bernie, and Mike for a great day out!

Congratulations to Holly on NH48W #'s 43 and 44, and to Jocelyn on NH48 #'s 10 and 11!
