peaceful hike. woods blanketed in white. snow varied from 3"-6" on average along the trail, but some drifts, mainly up towards top. a steady breeze at the observation tower which was of course covered in rime. became a little slushy slippery underneath the snow on the way down the trail which made for some slip sliding downhill action. i did wear spikes, but snow provided for some good traction going up. slowshoes not needed. |
