Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: empty lots at Wildcat and 19 Mile Brook. Having heard the adds on radio about trail passes being required Valerie and I checked it out in morning...doors were locked. No one approached us in the afternoon though there are signs in places stating hours of operation and the necessity of having a pass
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Ice - Blue, Ice - Breakable Crust, Snow/Ice - Frozen Granular, Slush
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment: Light Traction
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: most crossings bridged on this route. Bridge at second crossing on 19 Mile Brook that ended half way after the storm has been removed. Decent rocks in place and logs wedged which made for easy going
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: some good footbed work on 19 Mile. Numerous blowdowns on on Wildcat Ridge trail, particularly on climb to A. Large ones remain..kudos to those who have cut before us. We took out a half dozen 6-10 inch ones but several awkward stepovers remain. On a good note some excellent recent brushing noted from C to D.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: not much water but dogs could have done this hike today

Comments
Comments: nice day out on the Cats with some great footing from previous nights sleet etc. We used spikes from the Carter Dome Trail jct on ascent and kept them on the rest of the way on varying sleet layers and stretches of soft ice. A cold night or 2 will firm things up and some may be more comfortable in crampons as there will be lots of ice until next snowfall. Slide area was sleet covered and easily crossed. main issue was blowdowns..we spent some time.

Ski trails were a mix of grass and some easily gotten down ice. Real fast track across the Cats today. Thanks Bryan, Valerie, and Cynthia for a good day out with terrific views all around
