Comments
Comments: Microspikes were needed for almost the entire hike. it was slow going on the way down--there were many patches of sheer ice which were not avoidable and while the microspikes worked, they did not always feel completely reliable for this terrain. it would have been great to wear crampons, but there was enough alternation between ice and dry or muddy terrain to not justify that. So, we would advise building in extra time especially for the descent. We were alone on the trail for almost the whole day.
