| Comments: |
Comments: We spotted vehicles at the Highland Center and Edmunds Trailhead. Edmunds path was in pretty good shape, with a dusting of snow down low to sections of flow ice with elevation. We wore spikes from start to finish. The brook crossing just past the gate on Edmunds is very icy and steep. Several of us mananged with Hillsounds, but one had micro-spikes, and they weren't good enough. He had to put on crampons to get up this section.
The Crawford path over to Monroe and back to Ike was a mixture of ice and snow. No real depth to the snow. Only a few inches. The Section between Ike and Pierce had numerous flow ice sections.
The Crawford Path from Pierce down to the highland center was almost continuous flow ice until almost to Gibbs Falls. Traction is indeed needed for this trail. It was a nice blue sky day with temps in the upper twenties, but there was a pesty wind that lasted most of the day. Thanks to Hiker Ed and Guy Jubinville for a great hike. |
