24 degrees when I hit the trail this morning and 39 on my return 3hrs later. Mostly frozen bare, dry ground down low. The first crossing had icey rocks, so I put my spikes on just for the crossing. The second crossing was with bare boots with caution. On the switchbacks, there was a dusting to 1/2" of snow and flow icey patches. On went the spikes for safer footing to the top and back down to the second crossing. A few small blowdowns.
Beautiful calm, blue sky day. The sun felt really nice on the summit. I didn't see anyone else on the trail. I left at 11:00. |
