Temps were arounbd 30 so it wasn't too cold. I saw one set of small tracks ahead of us. Looks like we were following the tracks of Pepper and Me as the went up South Twin when we headd to Galehead. Many other dog tracks on the Garfield Tr.

Comments
Comments: Much more snow than I had expected. A winter wonderland today! A dusting down low to 6+- inches infront of Galehead Hut but little to no ice yet. No tracks down Twin Brook Tr or West from Garfield on the Garfield Ridge Tr. Surprisingly it looked like there were tracks heading down Franconia Brook Tr. The soft snow and mud made for OK traction on the ascent and across the ridge but the heavy traffic on the Garfieled Tr had packed the snow and it had started to freeze. Bringing microspikes would be a good idea although mine stayed in the pack all day.

It took 35 minutes to walk the snowmobile trail and Gale River Loop Rd from the Garfield Tr back to the Gale River Tr parking lot. I figured it saved about a mile or so. I talked loud to Marlie and whistled often to alert any nearby hunters while off of the hiking trails.
