Lightly snowed most of the hike, in the clouds above 3500 feet. Temps in upper 20's. A dusting to at most an inch of snow on trail. Half inch thick ice sheet have set up on the half mile section of slanted slabs/bedrock on Mt. Osceola trail coming from tripoli below main peak summit--NEEDED/used microspikes there. Other area could be barebooted still, including chimney bypass which was dry and bare. But temps will be well below freezing for next few days so expect more ice and its time to carry microspikes for sure! All the jeans and sneakers I saw on trail yesterday not the best choice. |
