First time on this part of the trail without a snowpack, its even worse than winter! Down low trail is a six foot deep eroded sand pit, then a section of running water over rocks/slabs, then mud pits in evergreens up high. Black ice on rocks in middle section of the trail made it hard to tell what was running water and what was ice, had to use caution. Micros would have been of no use. No snow. Ice had accumulated on the tower, and my cat-like relflexes helped me avoid one baseball sized chunk as it fell. Don't stand near the tower when it has ice on it! |
