Caribou Valley (Pond) Road is now officially blocked (sign plus 2 concrete roadblocks) at the metal bridge approximately 3.9 miles from ME27. There is plenty of parking space and the road is in good condition. |

I left Cinnilla at home not sure what this hike might entail - but it is easy and any dog will have a great time on this hike. There are plenty of small water streams along the trail. |

For a detailed description of this hike see Andrew Lavigne's website (http://alavigne.net/Outdoors/ImageGallery/2010/08-01-Redington/). Georg and I met 2 fellow hikers on this hike and like us they carried a printout of Andrew's excellent description of this hike.
All turns are marked with cairns, flags and/or arrows on the ground. You really have to work hard to make any mistakes. I have GPS coordinates for the entire route (as picked up by the tracking feature on my Spot Messenger). Please e-mail if you would like to have them.
We estimate that this is an approximately 11 miles round trip but the footing is easy and it is a fast hike. It took us less than 2 hours to reach the summit. |
