 | Parking/Access Road Notes: |
No signage at trailhead on route 156. There is a pulloff section where trailhead is. The key to note is that it is 4.5 miles south of Weld Center, as stated in the AMC Maine Mountain Guide. The trail looks like a fishing path at the beginning, but gets more defined after the stream crossing. |

Very eroded in lower sections and no trail blazes until you get out into the open, where it is nicely blazed in blue on the rocks. |

Minimal, considering it is early June and with all the recent rain. Did not need DEET or a headnet. |

Bald Mountain - Weld, ME area
What a hidden gem! After 30+/- minutes of steady climbing on an eroded trails in the woods, you break out into the open with amazing views all the way to the summit. Nearby views highlights included Webb Lake, Tumbledown/Jackson Range and Mt. Blue. More distant views included Abraham, Bemis/Elephant, Baldpate, Sunday River, Old Speck and the Presis. This is the best bang for the buck hike I have done in the Northeast! HIGHLY recommended and family friendly, too. |
