Comments
Comments: Thanks to the previous reports of those who drove up this road. The road walk went quick and was a nice warm up to another tough bushwhacking day. Similar to the loop of Boil and Onion the day before, there were plenty of good woods but also plenty of slow-going tight sections on the ridges. I met one moose, and many bones throughout. The climb up Pisgah was steep and direct, a scramble up mossy boulders. Challenging but fun weaving my way along the ridge to the swath. Great views on the swath, but incredibly steep and rough descending. The footing was terrible with ankle-twisting holes hidden by the raspberries. Blueberries were almost ripe, raspberries are great right now. The woods were excellent up to North Sisk, but then got thick trying to stay on the ridge to Sisk, so I dropped down and had to side-hill for over a mile. Good going again up and down Sisk, but down lower nearing the roads there was logging regrowth to deal with, nothing too awful, skidder paths to use but they were eroded and made for poor footing. It was great to be back on a road for the walk out. 7 hours for 11 miles or so.
