Comments
Comments: Headed up the Elephant Mountain Road to the junction at ~2300'. I parked the truck here and headed up the left fork to the traditional herd path up SW Elephant. This was well-defined to about 3200', but above that was wide open woods except for some thick stuff for the last 100 yards before the summit. From SW Elephant, I headed through old logging areas to NE Elephant which ranged from open woods to thick regrowth. There were some nice views from the logging area, which reach nearly to the summit of the NE peak. I then headed east and explored the ledges/cliffs above to AT. Some very neat geography here. I then bushwhacked back to the AT and headed south to the saddle, where I followed open woods back to the Elephant Mountain Road and the truck.
