Comments
Comments: Hiked up to the west summit of Abbot Mtn. using the Abbott Mtn Trail from the north and the ATV track across the ridge. Took Lynx Link to the base of Sugarloaf, bushwhacked up to the summit, & hiked back down via Lynx Link. Exited by hiking Owls Nest Road (a snowmobile trail) north to Gray Road, & the latter back to my car. About 4" fresh powder without much of a base. Some ice on the way up Abbott. Lynx Link is signed and marked with yellow blazes but the section at the east foot of Sugarloaf is tricky to follow on account of blowdowns and brush. For those who do not know, the trail turns northerly just after an old stone foundation after the crossing of Owls Nest Road and ascends the north ridge of Sugarloaf. The trail continues from the summit south to a point further south on Owls Nest, but I did not follow that leg. Alltrails has good tracks of Lynx Link and the Abbott trail system.
