Comments
Comments: We took advantage of the unseasonably warm weather today with a hike up Albany Mountain in the Whites! We ascended via the Albany Mountain Trail from Birch Avenue in Stoneham to the south. It had been 5 years since I hiked Albany by this trail, and it still seems much the same, perhaps with a bit better maintenance now. The trail is mostly clear and well marked with some areas of deep slippery leaves being the biggest challenge. Views from the upper mountain viewpoints were spectacular, with only a few of the tallest peaks being obscured by clouds. We ran into a couple groups on the Albany Mountain Spur near the summit, but nobody else was on the southern part of the Albany Mountain Trail.
