Comments
Comments: Today, we hiked a loop over Streaked Mountain, ascending the mountain's southeast ridge. After parking at the base of the Streaked Mountain Trail, we followed Streaked Mountain Road south for just over a mile to a woods road. This woods road brought us east, along the base of the mountain, to a junction with the trail up the southeast ridge.

This trail was marked with dark red blazes and arrows on the rock ledges. It wasn't long after starting the ascent, that the trail popped out onto ledges. The trail gradually ascended the ridge, on semi-open and open ledges for the majority of its length. It was easy going and there were multitudes of beautiful viewpoints along the way. At the large open ledge viewpoint to the south of the summit, we stopped for lunch. Despite the wind and chilly temperature, we lingered for a while, enjoying the beautiful views.

After lunch, we headed up and over the summit, making our descent on the Streaked Mountain Trail down the west side of the mountain. We were surprised to have the mountain completely to ourselves on a holiday weekend. This was the first time that I've been up Streaked without lots of other people and sometimes loud ATVs and side-by-sides at the summit. It was a nice change, and we really enjoyed the trail up from the south!
