 | Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Grassy parking area on the north side with room for several cars (probably best accessed from the North Gate though still an exceptionally long drive in), and a dirt area by the gate on the south side with room for at least a few cars. None at the north and I was the only one at the south gate around 11:45am when I started, but there was one when I returned just past 3:30pm. $20 day pass or $50 season pass for out-of-state residents to access BSP. No day-use fee for Maine residents. The road should be suitable for all cars. Just lots of potholes to be wary of. The gate opens at 6am for day-use. Long drive in to this trailhead. |

 | Water Crossing Notes: |
I could be misremembering now, but I think the actual stream crossings were easy although there was a section getting flooded by beavers that was difficult to pass through. |

 | Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Not sure if this one was blazed...if it was, expect blue. Not hard to follow as it's a road but there were some very overgrown sections. It was signed at both ends... I don't think there was anything in between. A small clumb of small but painful to get through blowdowns maybe 1/3 or so of the way in from the south trailhead. Ithink there were probably others too but with rain, I didn't take many photos on this hike. |

 | Dog-Related Notes: |
Dogs are not allowed in BSP. |
|
 | Bugs: |
They were absolutely sickening on the road walk back... I was grabbing them by the handful in the air in front of me. |

First of a few shorter hikes this day. It began raining on me a short ways in and I got soaked. Heavy rain but not all that long, but this trail is very brushy at times so stayed soaked until I walked the road back anyway. Be aware that it's about a 5mi road walk and there aren't many cars on this section of the road. The few that I saw did not give me a ride :P. The trail/road was not particularly scenic and was difficult to traverse in one section due to busy beavers flooding it. Gaia had me at 5.4mi, just over 200ft of gain, 2hr12min for the trail portion and 10.25mi, 575ft of gain, 3hr50min for the total hike. There's a real old beer can in the woods to the left of the gate at the southern trailhead. Here's to you if you can find it; probably considered a relic at this point so I left it. |
